Charlie Carley
BIOGRAPHY
Mayor Charlie Carley and his wife, Christine, raised their family in the Kendall Park section of South Brunswick Township. Their daughter, Katie, graduated from Rutgers University – New Brunswick with a BS in Applied Physics and the New Jersey Institute of Technology – Newark with a MS in Civil Engineering. She pursues a career in Civil Engineering. Their son, Pat, attends the University of Montana – Missoula, with a major in Finance. Both graduated from South Brunswick High School.
Licensed as a Professional Engineer and also as a Professional Planner by the State of New Jersey, Mayor Carley has earned degrees from Rutgers – New Brunswick and NJIT – Newark.
Elected in 2004 to South Brunswick Township Council, he has worked with his colleagues to assure that the municipal portion of the property tax is stable. He has also been keen to enhance the Senior Center, which has benefitted from a number of upgrades during his tenure, including the addition of the South Brunswick Wellness Center under the management of Penn Medicine/Princeton Health. Mr. Carley has been an active member of an engaged governing body.
Mayor Carley has earned numerous awards, including the American Society of Civil Engineers’ “Service to the People” Award. The award recognizes individuals for their service to the general public; selection is based on the nominee’s involvement in the planning, design, or construction of the people-serving works of the civil engineering profession. Mayor Carley has also been recognized by the NJ State Legislature, the YMCA, and the Indo-American Cultural Foundation of Central New Jersey for his civic endeavors.
